We begin our adventure by heading deep into the Erg Chebbi dunes. You’ll feel the power of your KTM 450 as you ride up and down these massive golden sand hills. Our first cultural stop is Khamlia village, where we enjoy traditional Gnawa music, performed by locals whose roots trace back to West Africa.
After that, we cross the dunes to reach Begaa, the last Moroccan village near the Algerian border. Here, the desert gets even more remote. We take a break at the scenic Tisrdmine oasis, where palm trees rise from the sand. For lunch, we stop at Saf-Saf, where you’ll enjoy a peaceful picnic under the trees.
In the afternoon, we ride back to Merzouga, passing through more dramatic desert landscapes. Dinner and overnight at a comfortable hotel or guesthouse.
After breakfast, we begin a new day of exploration. Our first stop is Taous, a small village with fascinating prehistoric rock engravings. These carvings offer a glimpse into the region’s ancient past and make for a perfect photo opportunity.
We continue riding through the stunning desert landscapes until we reach the Jdaid and Ouzina villages. These villages are home to friendly Berber people, and you’ll get a chance to interact with locals and learn about their way of life.
By midday, we reach Ramlia, a peaceful oasis hidden between dunes and rocky terrain. We enjoy another outdoor picnic surrounded by nature and silence.
Later in the afternoon, we continue our ride towards Tafraout Sidi Ali, where we will spend the night. Here, we gather around the fire, enjoy a hearty dinner, and relax beneath the star-filled sky. This night is often one of the most memorable parts of the tour.
On the final day, we ride through rugged paths toward the mysterious Lost City of Oubahlou, a historic site with Portuguese ruins that echo stories of old trade routes. Walking among these ruins feels like stepping back in time.
Next, we head to Rissani, one of the oldest towns in Morocco and once a key caravan trading post. We visit local markets, ksars (fortified villages), and historical monuments. Rissani is also known for its unique desert-style pizza — a must-try dish!
After lunch and some free time to explore, we ride back to Merzouga. The vast dunes appear again on the horizon, and as we approach, we remember the unforgettable journey we’ve just completed.
Yes, previous experience and a valid motorcycle license are required. The tour involves varied terrain and long riding hours.
