Ouarzazate/ Ouarzazate
9:00
Your adventure begins in Ouarzazate, known as the “Door to the Desert.” Upon arrival, you will transfer to your comfortable riad. Depending on your arrival time, you can visit Ouarzazate Movie Studios, the largest film studio complex in the world. You may also explore Kasbah Taourirt, a stunning example of traditional mud-brick architecture.
The highlight of the day is a visit to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fortified city is famous for its well-preserved clay kasbahs and has been featured in many international films such as Gladiator and Prince of Persia. The rich history and dramatic views make this the perfect introduction to your journey.
On day two, the tour heads toward the Dades Valley and Tinghir. The route takes you through the Skoura Valley, lined with palm groves and ancient kasbahs. You will pass by rural Berber villages, allowing you to see traditional Moroccan life.
Next, you ride around Mount M’Goun, the second highest peak in the Atlas Mountains. This mountain backdrop creates some of the most beautiful scenery on the entire tour. After the mountain, the road leads to the Rose Valley, famous for its fragrant pink roses harvested in spring.
You then reach the Dades Canyon, where massive cliffs tower over winding roads. Finally, the day ends in Tinghir, near the spectacular Todra Gorge—a narrow canyon with towering rock walls that is a must-see. You will stay overnight in a local guesthouse with dinner included.
Today’s ride takes you closer to the desert. The route goes through Alnif, a town famous worldwide for its fossil discoveries. This stop is perfect for a quick lunch and fossil shopping.
From Alnif, you move on to Rissani, a lively desert town known for its traditional market, or souk. Rissani gives you a real taste of Sahara life and culture. It’s also the last stop before the sand dunes.
Your destination is Merzouga, located near the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. These towering golden dunes create a stunning desert landscape. You will spend the night in a superior riad here, enjoying dinner and preparing for desert adventures.
Day four brings you deeper into the desert. Riding toward Ouzina, you’ll see the desert in all its glory—endless dunes, dark rocky mountains, and wandering camel herds. The landscape changes between vast sandy areas and dry riverbeds, giving you a true Sahara experience.
You will travel through small Berber villages and possibly meet some nomads. The journey ends in Mharech near Tafraout, where you will stay in a local auberge for dinner and overnight rest.
On day five, you will explore the famous Dinosaurs Valley near the Algerian border. This area is known for the many dinosaur fossils found there, adding a unique historical twist to your desert ride.
Afterward, the route leads through copper mines and over a small mountain range, finally arriving at the lush Draa Valley. This valley is famous for its giant palm groves and traditional mud-brick villages.
You will stay in Zagora, a peaceful town with friendly locals. Enjoy a hearty dinner and explore the local markets before resting for the night.
The sixth day takes you back along the Draa River, passing more small villages and date palm-lined landscapes. The route crosses the Anti-Atlas Mountains, offering magnificent panoramic views.
You will visit the Oasis Fort near Agdez, a quiet place where you can learn about local life and history from your guide. After this enriching experience, you return to Ouarzazate for your final night on the tour, enjoying a special dinner in your riad.
Your tour concludes with breakfast at the riad and transfer to the airport or your next destination. You will leave Morocco with unforgettable memories of riding through one of the most beautiful deserts in the world.
